How to go ten rounds in the ring with the common cold / flu. (The organic way!)

Being an East Londoner now, I have almost become one of those yuppies who do things the naturalistic organic way. Introduced to over priced organic tea brands and root vegetables from the organicist of underground soils for an extortionate price, seems to be the drug of these Easterly shores. However, this wonderful festive season, i have endeavored to fight the british classic of a cold the old fashioned wives tale way.   You know the feeling on that wonderfully iced afternoon, when the tingly throat develops and your head starts feeling like a baby elephant is sitting on your skull, (The biggest of the elephant tribe is waiting for his turn to sit later that evening) You sneeze out the odd germ and boom, you have caught a cold. Most probably from the tall, sniveling man on that underground train you was crammed onto a few days previously, who thought he would give you a wonderful present this festive season by exploding a million germ particles into your face with his expulsions

Bubble-icious Bubble Tea

Image
Walking through Shoreditch after a swift visit to one of my favourite stores Beauty Mart, with the flatmate, who chose to sit outside after being embarrassed watching me attempt to swim throughout the incredible amount of beauty and wonder on offer. I thought it was time we tried the famous Bubble tea! The idea of a beautifully bubbly tea seemed to really intrigue me, originating in Taiwan this tea is a delightful mix of tapioca bubbles and real, cold, flavoured tea (of which I have since learnt, they have introduced hot tea for the frozen winter chills). Off we hovered to Milk Tea and Pearl a minimal, modern twist on the tea shop, which lives on the top of the BoxPark shopping experiment. We were met by two beautiful girls, who worked in the shop and an array of what I can only describe as different coloured bath pearls, turns out after much exploration and my mafia interrogation of the poor girl behind the counter, these are made out of cassava, sweet potato and yam! Even mor

Facemasking Saturdays

Image
My skin feels a little dehydrated and delightfully dull at the moment thanks to this change in weather, general working hours and life torments, so in a free hour of a normally jam-packed Saturday, I decided to try a new face mask to liven up my lifeless, cell depleting skin. I used a product made by a company called Good Things this is available in boots and costs a humble £5.99. They have a whole great range available which has been developed by a beauty writer so this is a product which knows its stuff! Paraben, mineral oil, and Sodium Laureth Sulphate free, (these are basically the bad things in mixtures that kick the life out of skin and cause follicles to stand up and scream "I'm a pore, get me out of here") This is an all round good product for sensitive skin. I applied a generous amount of the mask using a clean foundation brush, allowing me to cover my entire face neatly and avoid the eye and lip are where our skin is considerably thinner and more susceptible

Mad Dogs and Englishmen

Image
On a beautiful rare day off from my extraneous, mental exertion that is work, I ventured down to the Essex coast to visit my parents and spend some time looking around the delightful seaside village in which I grew up, that is Leigh-on-sea. My mum and I wanted to visit a shop I had always heard rumours of, due to its exciting homewards and interiors. Forever dreaming of my quaint country cottage, we headed to Mad Dogs and Englishman, with a name this extravagant I was not sure what to expect.   I was elated to arrive and hear music from the Andrews sisters echoing around the cosy hollows of the shop and much to my surprise and delight there was a Vintage tea rooms behind all the incredible retro and new shabby chic woodland creations. With example interiors from kitchens to bathrooms, bedrooms to lounges, this shop is an interior wonderland.   We wandered through the mirror adorned walls, danced away to the 1940's beats and admired the intricate design of th
