The Tiramisu recipe to end all Tiramisu recipes!!!

My other half, partner in crime, the Robin to my Batman or whatever we like to call each other, absolutely LOVES Tiramisu. Almost as much as I love chocolate, which is an awful lot I can tell you.   With my love of baking and developing new experimental ways of cooking and with Guy always ready and willing to be the food crash test dummy, I get to work creating new and exciting meals, cakes and desserts with every ingredient I can put my hands on. One of the most popular dishes and one to give you a little wake up after an evening meal is the traditional classic, created by my Italian ancestors, Tiramisu. I have added a slight twist to the traditional recipe and you can make this with or without the alcohol. Enjoy! Ingredients. 550ml    Double cream 250g      Mascarpone - (that famous cheese that hides a baby horse i hear you say) ;) 1 tsp      Nutmeg 5 tbsp    Soft brown sugar 1 x        Pack sponge fingers 300ml   Strong coffee (made with 2 x tbsp coffee) or 300ml   Espr

Periods, Tampons and all that other girly downstairs stuff

Throughout the tummy aches, hot water bottles, doses of Feminax tablets and inability to function on occasion. I got to thinking, how much do we really know and understand about our "time of the month", the causes of pain, the things that help with the discomfort and all the inflictions we don't understand or believe in because we simply do not know and are mostly too scared to ask, well below I have tried to explain and help you understand what could be the problem "downstairs" if you catch my drift. Recently I have been reading more and more about young girls developing a terrible illness caused mostly by tampons named TSS or toxic shock syndrome. This sounds highly petrifying and frightfully deadly and in some cases it is. This is simply because we do not understand a lot of its causes and symptoms. Toxic Shock syndrome or TSS is mostly caused by bacterial toxins entering the bloodstream, either through cuts and open wounds or when a foreign object enters

Coconut Oil. What can we actually do with it?

Image
You can cook with it, cleanse, moisturise and tone with it, bake with it, clean with it, put it in your hair, eat it and bath in it. What is this wonder product?? I hear you shout with enjoyment. Well, I would like to introduce to you and familiarise you with natures own, Coconut Oil. Coconut Oil is a natural oil extracted from the flesh of the fruit. It is entirely organic with no added preservatives or specials. It starts as a solid and melts down to an oil at higher temperatures. The best way to get the right consistency is to sit your jar in a bowl of warm water until you have the sufficient amount for your beauty regime. 1) Coconut oil is incredible for moisturising your hair and adding some shine and condition to those dull straw like ends. Simply wash your hair as normal, then apply your oil to the ends of your hair, leave for 5-10 mins rinse throughly and gorgeous sleek locks you shall have. 2) Rub into your warm skin after showering or bathing for a beautiful body mois

What extortionately overpriced side would you like with that madam?

London, city of innovation, city of lights, a super power in todays modern exuberant world and apparently the home to the overpriced whimsical side dish. Would you like fries with that?? A historically famous question asked in speedy food joints around the globe. Brought to us by the ever wonderous Americans. McDonalds, Wendy's, KFC, to name a sample collective of these servers and yes if not ordering a meal, fries would be a great added extra. However, when in a Highly delightful venue, decorated like the inside of a 1920's railway station, styled out with the latest in overpriced vintage fittings. To be asked the question, do you want fries with that? should surely not even enter this simple equation when ordering a meal. Yes, MEAL, from the, on some occasions, overpriced menu. At which point I glance to the sides section of the menu, where, for a overwhelmingly reasonable £8 (the price of a meal in itself on some occasions) I can have mash potato and a child size porti

Politics, the simplified way for us normal humans.

Politics, like marmite, either love or hate the subject. Its a thing, always has been, probably always will be. Since a certain Mr Fawkes tried to convulse its empowering walls to the modern day tourist insistent on taking a selfie outside Westminster's hallowed towers. The secrets those walls hold are never to fall upon our ears however I am here to simplify an incredibly overwhelming, elitist subject. Im going to attempt to bring politics into the 21st century and explain it in a language even the humblest of fellows will understand. Left or right wing, home or away, backbencher or lobbyist. Sounds a lot like football terminology if you ask me. So for the purpose of this article, what if we were to think about politics like football, yes the majority of us still do not understand the offside rule, lets just call this the right of passage in politics. As for an election, although we have a number of different political representatives to vote for, such as Labour, Conservative, U

Emotions (warning, deep meaningful post ahead.)

Emotions? Good or bad, up and down, round in circles. Flying high on top of that all encompassing mountain or delving into the depths of the abyss. What are these feelings we can sometimes allow to take over our lives with such haste and control? Why is there so much pressure on us to feel a certain way and moreover why do we put so much anguish into our own beliefs and thoughts. A human is born with a constant need to be wanted, to be loved, to be cared for. From a newborn we look up to our mothers, to those we can rely on and those who make us smile, in turn this makes us feel safe. To be in someones arms or simply held by another is enough to build the soul and watch those endorphins flow, after all, HUGS stand for Helping Us Grow Spiritually! Life is a constant craving for recognition and praise. At certain times in our timeline this fades and increases depending on our situations. Some humans have a distinct lack in feeling and are some what selfish in a number of ways. This c

New shopping discovery SilkFred.

Image
I wanted to write a post telling all of a new online shopping hub I seem to have discovered named SilkFred, yes, a great pun on words, Fred instead of thread... you get the idea. Well the collections they have on this website range from boho chic to evening glamour, all available on one website. They stock a host of varying designers and I found myself vying through all the beautiful clothes for hours one cold uneventful evening. One of the items I have from this night of gazing at all the beauty on offer, is a top from new brand, Never Fully Dressed. I found the block colours and flowing, river like fabric delectable and very flattering to my figure. A soft fabric, which can be worn with anything from a skirt to jeans or heels to a chelsea boot. A simple long necklace adds a bit of jazz to the front of the top and helps to break up the solid colour and obviously, a Russian Red from Mac red lip and big flowing hair to match the redness of the top & rippling of the threads is a m

High Street Fashion Fun this LFW

Image
With the crazy, adventurous appearances coming out of the ever great London Fashion Week at the moment, I thought it only just to share some simple high street options with you on my blog this coming week. Starting with a very simple tourist in my home town look. One of my new favourite shops of the moment has to be American Eagle Outfitters. I am so elated the brave Eagle has finally landed in the UK, after years of online ordering and forever waiting, like a puppy by the letter box in anticipation of the morning papers. We can now visit one of its many UK locations to purchase some wonderful layers and incredibly comfy jeans. I now have two pairs of the high rise jegging, off black and dark navy. I find them the most fitted, engagingly beautiful jeans i own and at £29 i think they are very reasonably priced. They do not fall down, i am not forever flying low when the zip magically decides to undo its self whilst walking and the long are finally long enough for my lengthy pins.
