Scrumptious evenings at the Wildhart.

As a couple in London we used to eat out all the time, always sampling the local E3 delights. But since moving to the beautiful Hertfordshire, yes, we bought a house, so naturally had minimal savings left, and we have been working so hard to get our house the way we wanted we haven't really sampled the local delights... that was until now! On a mammoth countryside walk with our little dog Bertie, in the distance we came across this beautiful looking Mill. So holding that memory in our minds we endeavoured to find out, what this unusual looking landing ground is. We tracked the restaurant down online. It seemed they had newly opened upstairs and offered a Valentines menu, something we do not normally go for but we said what the hell and booked it in advance.   Upon arrival, it was a little dark in the car park which we later found out from the owner, was currently being fixed, but this also added some kind of magical charm to the fact it was a dark rainy night and we were in

My Vaishaly skincare dream

Image
Eat, sleep, work, repeat, eat, sleep, work, repeat. Seems to be my only diary entry of late, working like a machine, not caring for my body and skin in the way I should and averaging about 5 hours sleep a night, I hit a wall, literally, looked at my face and boom there they were, the dreaded character marks, dehydration lines, sun damage. The time had come. Its time to start spending a little more time on my skin. As most of you know, I am an absolute skincare junkie and have never failed in my quest to always look after it. However sometimes we need that deeper pore cleanse, the hydrating oils and the pressure massage, to help us escape the woes of London life and to creep that moisture deep into my 7 layers of skin. To google I went to research, "Best anti-aging facial, London" A whole host of random ideals came up and I landed upon a review for Vaishaly facials, what I loved was the clean, descriptive website, the amazing reviews of the signature facials and the fact tha

Preparing for the BAFTA's

Image
For this post I wanted to go through the amazing stages of getting one of my wonderful clients and friends ready for this years BAFTA event held in the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. A day in the life of a red carpet makeup and hair artist, as wonderful and glamorous the event is, full of beauty, splendour, pomp and circumstance, there is a lot of behind the scenes that goes into creating, mastering and eventually achieving such wonderment. With a dream to be nominated and having worked with the awe inspiring Stephen Fry in the past experiencing his quick wit and renowned intellect first hand, to witness his hosting skills in all there beauty, what a wonder. To sit amongst your piers and witness the talent in the room from screenwriters to makeup designers, hollywood icons to the driving forces behind their careers. One day I will perhaps be lucky enough to belong in that room next to my love, and even, win an award for my chosen field, the dream that everyone in this industry chases a

Shopping! How you can save and budget the easy way!

After spending many an evening observing Jaime Oliver collecting food out of oversized waste bins, or listening to Martins money tips discussing ever growing super market charges. We decided to do a little 2016 test into budgeting on our food shopping and seeing whether we can spend less out of our speedily emptying, London living wallets per week for the same, if not better quality of food. In the film and TV world for whatever crazy unjust reason our day rates do not tend to increase every April like the other 31 million people living in the country who are in full time employment who enjoy an increase with inflation annually. For example I seem to be on the same day rate now as I was 5 years ago , sometimes even less, due to the amount of horrid undercutting going on. Hence why we need to unionise! Anyway enough of my intense waffle, that is another blog post for another time. Long story short, we need to cut back what with the cost of living in London increasing at gastronomica

The Tiramisu recipe to end all Tiramisu recipes!!!

My other half, partner in crime, the Robin to my Batman or whatever we like to call each other, absolutely LOVES Tiramisu. Almost as much as I love chocolate, which is an awful lot I can tell you.   With my love of baking and developing new experimental ways of cooking and with Guy always ready and willing to be the food crash test dummy, I get to work creating new and exciting meals, cakes and desserts with every ingredient I can put my hands on. One of the most popular dishes and one to give you a little wake up after an evening meal is the traditional classic, created by my Italian ancestors, Tiramisu. I have added a slight twist to the traditional recipe and you can make this with or without the alcohol. Enjoy! Ingredients. 550ml    Double cream 250g      Mascarpone - (that famous cheese that hides a baby horse i hear you say) ;) 1 tsp      Nutmeg 5 tbsp    Soft brown sugar 1 x        Pack sponge fingers 300ml   Strong coffee (made with 2 x tbsp coffee) or 300ml   Espr

Periods, Tampons and all that other girly downstairs stuff

Throughout the tummy aches, hot water bottles, doses of Feminax tablets and inability to function on occasion. I got to thinking, how much do we really know and understand about our "time of the month", the causes of pain, the things that help with the discomfort and all the inflictions we don't understand or believe in because we simply do not know and are mostly too scared to ask, well below I have tried to explain and help you understand what could be the problem "downstairs" if you catch my drift. Recently I have been reading more and more about young girls developing a terrible illness caused mostly by tampons named TSS or toxic shock syndrome. This sounds highly petrifying and frightfully deadly and in some cases it is. This is simply because we do not understand a lot of its causes and symptoms. Toxic Shock syndrome or TSS is mostly caused by bacterial toxins entering the bloodstream, either through cuts and open wounds or when a foreign object enters

Coconut Oil. What can we actually do with it?

Image
You can cook with it, cleanse, moisturise and tone with it, bake with it, clean with it, put it in your hair, eat it and bath in it. What is this wonder product?? I hear you shout with enjoyment. Well, I would like to introduce to you and familiarise you with natures own, Coconut Oil. Coconut Oil is a natural oil extracted from the flesh of the fruit. It is entirely organic with no added preservatives or specials. It starts as a solid and melts down to an oil at higher temperatures. The best way to get the right consistency is to sit your jar in a bowl of warm water until you have the sufficient amount for your beauty regime. 1) Coconut oil is incredible for moisturising your hair and adding some shine and condition to those dull straw like ends. Simply wash your hair as normal, then apply your oil to the ends of your hair, leave for 5-10 mins rinse throughly and gorgeous sleek locks you shall have. 2) Rub into your warm skin after showering or bathing for a beautiful body mois
